Lou Cantou

Lou Cantou, which means Ingle-nook fireplace in local dialect, is a typical Périgord village cottage many centuries old. It has the characteristic steep, sloping roof which is a feature of the area.

The living accommodation consists of: 3 Bedrooms (sleeps up to 6) ; 2 Shower Rooms; Sitting Room with fireplace, wood burning stove, TV, Video and books; Dining Room; Kitchen with seating for up to six, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, gas cooker, microwave, toaster, coffee maker plus all usual kitchen utensils.

Lou Cantou has a small, enclosed, private, lawned garden, with access to a large garden with a solar heated swimming pool and lawned area. Access to shared washing machine, woodstore and bike sheds.

 

Location

The village of Trémolat is situated on the river Dordogne, midway between Bergerac and Sarlat, in the middle of two spectacular loops of the river known locally as cingles.

Transfer Times

Just outside the village is the village railway station with connections to Bergerac and Bordeaux to the west, and Sarlat to the east. From Le Buisson, the next station, there are connections to Perigueux and on to Paris, to the north, and to Agen and Toulouse to the south.

Attractions

A few minutes walk from the village square is the Bassin Nautique with a variety of watersports, public swimming pool and paddling pool, tennis courts, football pitch, volleyball court and Snack Bar which has frequently organised events (karaoke, films, discos).

There are many marked walks around the village and surrounding area (maps available) and in the summer months there are weekly organised walks.

There are several golf courses in the area, the nearest being Lolivarie, near Siorac and Chateau Les Merles, just west of Lalinde.

The tourist attractions to be found within a short drive of Trémolat are many and various. They range from the many prehistoric features of the Vézère valley, including world famous Lascaux caves, to medieval villages and castles, as well as renaissance châteaux and gardens.
